The SpySee National Accessibility Register has been developed to provide a platform to allow businesses to share information regarding the access and facilities that they provide for people with disabilities. It is hoped that this register will promote the delivery of more inclusive public and commercial services.
The Business Case
Benefits to business![[service] [service]](/images/stories/spysee/vert_serv.jpg)
- Becoming accessible to wheelchairs also means you are accessible to other people, for example people with luggage, shopping bags and prams as well as people with temporary impairments like broken limbs
- There is potential extra business from the disabled community, which therefore increases your potential visitor base
- It demonstrates Corporate Social Responsibility and is an opportunity for you to improve your public image and promote the better access, facilities and services you offer in comparison to your competitors
- Better accessibility also means the easier movement of goods
- There’s a reduction in accidents where there are lifts, handrails, better lighting and even floor surfaces
Benefits to disabled people
- It provides better opportunities to play a role in the economy
- There’s reduced financial cost of injuries that result from trying to negotiate inadequately set up facilities
Take part in this national program
SpySee would like to encourage as many businesses in as many industries as possible to register with the Accessibility Register and therefore provides two different categories of registration:
Premium Registration Package
This includes a display advertisement of your business in the register, along with details of the access and facilities you offer, your address, contact information, description of your products and services, opening hours and link to your website.
Your Premium Registration package also includes one mystery shop per outlet and information is displayed nationally reflecting the accessibility of each store. In addition, we offer Premium customers a feedback facility, to receive communication directly from current and potential customers via our Tell Us service. The Premium package includes an Action Plan to help you identify areas where your stores, products or services can be made more accessible for potential customers and allows you to display the Accessibility Register symbol on your shopfront and advertising material.
Basic Registration Package
A Basic Listing in the Accessibility Register means your business will be able to share information about the access and facilities you provide at a glance.
Our Basic Listing package includes a telephone assessment to determine the levels of access you provide. It’s a great tool for identifying areas for future improvements. You will be able to display the Accessibility Register symbol on your marketing materials and shopfront.
